About FPOTX

Our mission is to preserve families and help children in need, with our 5 core elements of our program.  We will guide families through these trouble times while introducing them to new programs, mentorships and hands on services.

YOU CAN HELP PRESERVE A FAMILY

With your help, we can help keep children out of CPS and introduce help to families in need.  Family Preservation of Texas will work collaboratively with other agencies providing some of these services to create a wraparound approach.

Mentors will be used to assist where needed. Some families will need more hands-on involvement. For example, a child who is violent might need a person staying in the home for a few days after the child is released from the hospital. Staff will be obtained and paid for these services.

5 Core Elements of the Program

Spirituality

To have/develop a spiritual life that is based upon faith in a Higher Power who provides a foundation for morality for the family.

Spirituality and faith in a higher power can provide a solid foundation of morality for a family. Belief in a guiding force beyond oneself can instill values of compassion, forgiveness, and empathy, shaping the way family members interact with one another and the world around them. It offers a moral compass that helps navigate challenges and encourages ethical decision-making, fostering a sense of unity, purpose, and shared values within the family unit.

Trustworthiness

To establish trust within the family knowing that each person is safe and secure.

Trust within the family is not only vital for maintaining a safe and secure environment but also for providing stability and nurturing healthy relationships. When family members trust one another, they feel safe expressing their thoughts and emotions openly, fostering effective communication and problem-solving. This trust creates a supportive atmosphere where conflicts can be resolved peacefully, and individual needs are acknowledged, leading to a sense of stability, emotional well-being, and a strong foundation for personal growth within the family unit.

Financial Security

To ensure the family has secure financial resources that enables them to meet all of the basic needs and live a life of the 10,10,80 principles.

Financial security plays a crucial role in enabling families to meet their basic needs and embrace the principles of the 10,10,80 rule. With stable finances, families can allocate 10% for giving, 10% for savings, and responsibly utilize the remaining 80% for essential expenses, education, and leisure. This financial stability not only provides a sense of security but also empowers families to plan for the future, pursue opportunities, and create a fulfilling life that aligns with their values and aspirations.

Physical Health

To encourage all members of the family to engage in activities of good nutrition and activities that promote good physical health.

When all members of the family actively engage in activities promoting good nutrition and physical health, it fosters a culture of wellness within the household. Making healthy food choices and participating in regular physical activities together not only improves individual well-being but also strengthens family bonds and promotes a sense of unity. By prioritizing and modeling healthy habits, families create a positive environment that encourages lifelong well-being, instills healthy behaviors in children, and establishes a foundation for a thriving, active lifestyle.

Mental Wellness

To support the exploration of past, present and future psychological enhancers that promote the foundation of a balanced family life.

Mental wellness is a cornerstone of a balanced family life, and therapy plays a vital role in supporting its cultivation. Through therapy, individuals can explore their past experiences, understand their present emotions and challenges, and develop strategies for a healthier future. Therapy provides a safe and confidential space for family members to address unresolved issues, enhance communication, and learn valuable coping skills, ultimately strengthening the foundation of the family unit and promoting a harmonious, balanced, and resilient family life.

Criteria for Acceptance

1. Must have a child in crisis.

We have witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of crisis on children. These young individuals often bear the weight of overwhelming emotions, experiencing profound distress, confusion, and a sense of loss. Their once vibrant spirits dim as they struggle to navigate the depths of their pain and find solace in a world that seems chaotic and unforgiving.

Crisis is definied as:

Runaway behaviors – Skipping school/classes – Drug use –
Stealing – Aggressive behaviors – Rebellious actions

2. Child must live in the home.

A stable and nurturing environment serves as a cornerstone for their emotional well-being and recovery. Consistency in routines, reliable caregivers, and a secure physical space provide a sense of safety and predictability that is essential for a child’s healing process. Stability enables them to develop trust, establish healthy relationships, and build resilience, laying a foundation for their overall growth and long-term success. Without stability, the child’s journey towards healing becomes significantly more challenging, hindering their ability to overcome adversity and thrive.

3. No viable resources

There are numerous cases where children in crisis are left without any accessible resources to support their need for counseling or therapy. In such heartbreaking situations, these children are denied the crucial assistance they require to heal and recover from their traumatic experiences. Without the necessary resources, they are forced to endure their pain in isolation, exacerbating their distress and impeding their path towards resilience and well-being.

4. Signed commitment by the entire family for up to 12 weeks.

Committing to a 12-week program for child therapy holds immense significance in fostering positive outcomes. Such programs allow for sustained engagement, establishing a consistent therapeutic relationship between the child and the therapist. This extended duration enables deeper exploration of underlying issues, gradual progress, and the development of coping mechanisms, empowering the child to make meaningful and lasting changes in their emotional well-being and overall life trajectory.

5. Commitment by family to attend church of their choice.

The importance of attending church for a child in distress lies in the potential for spiritual support, community, and a sense of belonging it can offer. Church can provide a space where children find solace, connect with others who share similar values, and draw strength from their faith. Through participation in religious activities, they may gain a renewed sense of hope, guidance, and moral grounding, contributing to their overall well-being and resilience during challenging times.

6. Submit weekly reports on the 5 core elements.

By consistently and accurately documenting a child’s development in alignment with these principles, we ensure accountability, transparency, and informed decision-making. Reporting serves as a vital tool for evaluating the effectiveness of the program, identifying areas of improvement, and tailoring interventions to meet the specific needs of the child. It also enables effective communication among stakeholders, including parents, caregivers, and educators, fostering a collaborative approach that maximizes the child’s potential for growth and success.
